Who can use this course?
This writing course is designed for 4th-6th graders OR any student wanting to learn how to write an essay! It utilizes proven teaching methods that help all students develop lifelong writing habits.
This course can be used at home, in a small group, or in a whole class setting.
How long are the videos?
Videos average 5-15 minutes each, however some may be longer or shorter.
The estimated play time of a video does not indicate how long a lesson will take. Most videos include hands-on activities that involve pausing the video to complete. Therefore, students should allow extra time to complete each video.
The pacing guide provides guidance on how many videos to show per day to average a 30-45 minute lesson.
What extra materials will students need?
Lessons are designed to be hands-on and engaging! Students will practice their writing skills, glue notes, and draft their essays in a writing journal. They will also need markers, scissors, and a glue stick. A printer should be available, as well, to print off documents such as anchor charts, graphic organizers, and revising/editing checklists. Students will finish the course with a writing journal full of resources for future writing pieces!
How do I access the course once it’s purchased?
You’ll have digital access to all materials through the Searchie platform using a given password. All files will be digital downloads.
Access will be available for 1 year after purchase. However, you can use the course as many times as you like during this time for mastery of skills or extra practice with a new topic!
Will students handwrite or type the essay?
Students can choose whichever they prefer! Lessons are presented in both formats so students can write in the style that’s most comfortable for them.
